The Hotel Lobby AI trend drops anyone into Quavo and Takeoff’s 2022 COLORS performance of “Hotel Lobby.” You upload two pictures, and an AI video tool swaps the rappers for your faces. Cats, presidents and cartoon ogres have all taken the mic this month. Here is where it came from, which apps make it and what each one costs.

Every clip follows the same frame. Two performers stand in a flat orange room, a single microphone hangs between them, and they trade verses over the same beat. However, the cast changes every time.

According to XXL, the software swaps in the new faces and keeps the hand moves, lip sync and audio lined up. As a result, a finished video takes minutes rather than an afternoon of editing. That low effort is exactly why the format keeps spreading.

Is the Migos AI Trend the Same as the Hotel Lobby AI Trend?

Yes. The Migos AI trend, the Migos AI video and the Quavo and Takeoff AI video are all names for this one Hotel Lobby clip, because Quavo and Takeoff were two thirds of Migos. So if you searched for a free Migos AI video generator, every free option in this guide works for it, starting with the Summrs and CapCut templates below.

First of all, the source is real. In June 2022, Quavo and the late Takeoff performed “Hotel Lobby” as Unc & Phew on A COLORS SHOW, the YouTube series known for its single-color studio. The orange booth is the backdrop every remake copies.

However, the clip never really went away. Starrd notes that COLORS reposted it in April 2025, October 2025 and June 2026, and the sound now sits under more than 428,000 TikTok videos. Then, in early September 2026, a TikTok of two cats rapping the routine went viral. After that, the AI versions took over.

By then the original had passed 120 million YouTube views, and The Source reported the milestone this week. On September 23, 2026, Quavo reposted the COLORS clip on X with the caption “The Original #HotelLobby,” a quiet reminder of who made it. Takeoff died in November 2022, so the booth is also one of the last times the two performed together.

PixVerse added a Hotel Lobby template of its own. On September 27, 2026 it was the first card in the Template tab of the PixVerse web app, with a Go Create button. It works like the others: two photos in, one vertical clip out, paid with PixVerse credits.

To see how the real thing is made, we ran the Hotel Lobby AI trend ourselves on September 28, 2026. We took the same 15 seconds of the COLORS performance that every remake uses, gave Kling AI 3.0 Omni two headshots from our About page, and asked it to swap only the performers. The prompt is the one on Kling’s own trend example: replace both people with the characters from image 1 and image 2, and preserve the original background, actions, poses, camera movement, lighting and timing.

Through the API we used, Kling takes up to 10 seconds of reference video per run, so the clip is two runs of 8 and 7 seconds joined on the beat, with the original audio laid back on top. The first pass changed Ljiljana’s trousers between the two halves. We fixed it by feeding a still from the end of part one into part two as an outfit reference, and that is the one trick worth copying if you split a clip.

Searches for a free Hotel Lobby AI option jumped this week, and there are real ones. Still, the paid tools give you longer clips, fewer watermarks and more control over each face.

For this trend, creators use Motion Transfer. A Video AI Hub guide suggests a source clip of about 29 seconds, a character sheet, a face close-up, a full-body photo and a scene reference. Above all, two performers are the hard part. Starrd warns that motion tools built for one subject either reject a duo or lock onto whoever fills more of the frame. For that reason, it recommends a model that handles several characters at once, such as Seedance 2.0.

Similarly, your photos matter just as much. Use clear, well-lit, front-facing shots that show as much of the body as possible. Also, upload two separate pictures rather than one group photo, and skip heavy filters. Finally, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube all expect AI-generated clips to be labelled, so tick the disclosure box.

Meanwhile, the cast list keeps growing. XXL counted Barack Obama and Joe Biden trading bars, plus Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. The Tab added Shrek, Erling Haaland, Spider-Man, and Thor with Captain America.

Celebrities are joining too. On September 24, Russell Simmons posted a Hotel Lobby clip of himself and Kimora Lee Simmons, Complex reported. It arrived four days after her Lifetime documentary premiered, so the post drew far more attention than a typical remake. Even so, most versions stay light: two friends, a pet or a pair of cartoon heroes.
