Razer AI Companion Project AVA Brings a Holographic AI Presence to Your Desk

Razer has introduced Project AVA, a new AI-powered desk companion that brings artificial intelligence into the physical space. Unlike traditional voice assistants or on-screen tools, this device exists as a holographic presence that sits on your desk and interacts with you in real time.

Rather than living inside an app, Project AVA exists as a physical AI companion. It projects a 3D holographic figure from a compact cylindrical device, giving the AI a sense of presence, awareness, and responsiveness.

Project AVA represents a holographic AI desk companion concept from Razer. The device features a 5.5-inch holographic display that renders animated avatars with facial expressions, eye tracking, and fluid motion.

In addition, built-in microphones and a camera allow the AI to understand both voice commands and its surroundings. This gives AVA contextual awareness, allowing it to respond to what happens around you or on your computer screen.

Importantly, Project AVA works alongside a Windows PC through a direct USB-C connection. Through this connection, the AI analyzes on-screen content in real time — a feature Razer calls PC Vision Mode.

Razer positions the AI companion as more than a visual novelty. Project AVA assists across three main areas: gaming, productivity, and daily organization.

For gaming, AVA can act as a real-time companion. It can provide strategic guidance, explain in-game mechanics, and surface useful information while players stay focused on the game.

In a work context, the AI functions as a consultant. It can help summarize documents, analyze data, and assist with creative brainstorming. At the same time, it supports real-time language translation and fits well into professional and collaborative environments.

Customizable avatars stand out as one of Project AVA’s defining features. Users can choose from several holographic characters, each with a distinct visual style. The selection includes original Razer designs alongside a holographic avatar modeled after a well-known esports professional.

In addition to appearance, users can select different personality styles. The personalities range from calm and supportive to more energetic and expressive styles. As a result, users can tailor the Razer AI Companion to match individual preferences instead of settling for a generic experience.

Project AVA currently uses xAI’s Grok model to power its conversational intelligence and reasoning. However, Razer has confirmed an open architecture for the system.

This means future versions may support additional AI platforms, including Razer’s own AI solutions. As a result, the device evolves alongside advances in artificial intelligence and avoids reliance on a single model.

Project AVA remains in development. According to Razer, the device is expected to ship in the second half of 2026. At this time, the company has yet to confirm a final release date or pricing.

However, Razer is already accepting reservations in the United States. Interested users can place a refundable $20 deposit to secure early access once the product becomes available.
