So is Suno AI free? Yes for trying it, because 50 daily credits cover about five generations of two songs each. However, free songs cannot be downloaded or used commercially. Subscription credits do not roll over from month to month, while top up credits never expire but need an active plan.

A standard generation costs 10 credits and returns two songs. On that basis Pro buys about 250 generations a month, and Premier about 1,000.

The download cap changes the maths, though. Pro lets you create hundreds of songs but keep only 20 of them as files each month, so the real price is closer to 50 cents per downloaded song.

The legal picture is the caveat, and it is not small. Universal Music and Sony Music still sue Suno over the training of its earlier models, and in its September answer Suno admitted it had obtained YouTube audio with the tool yt-dlp while pleading fair use.

Other claims pile up as well. A Munich court ruled against Suno in a GEMA case on July 31, 2026, Round Hill Music sued on August 17, SOCAN filed in Canada on September 2, and Jason Isbell leads a proposed class action over artists’ names and likenesses.
