Anthropic just wired Schwab, Vanguard and BlackRock into a chatbot, then promised it will not tell anyone what to buy: this is Claude for Financial Advisors.

Claude for Financial Advisors launched on September 14, 2026, and it aims at the least glamorous part of the job. Meeting prep, client notes, compliance reviews, portfolio checks. Anthropic is not selling better market calls here. Instead, it is selling back the hours that paperwork eats.

What Is Claude for Financial Advisors?

First of all, it is a bundle, not a new model. Anthropic has packaged a set of connectors and what it calls workflow skills, then pointed them at the daily routine of a wealth advisor. In other words, the assistant reads the firm’s own systems and drafts the output.

Moreover, the company frames the problem as capacity rather than knowledge. Advisors are retiring faster than new ones arrive, and the survivors carry more clients each. Therefore the pitch is throughput: same advisor, more households, less time lost to admin.

Of course, Anthropic has been building toward this for a while. Its consumer side draws the headlines, including the recent departure of Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, but the enterprise push has been quieter and steadier.

Claude for Financial Services: The Connectors Behind It

In fact, the connector list is the actual product. Anthropic named custodians, asset managers and wealth technology vendors, and several of them are the biggest names in the industry. For example, BlackRock alone runs roughly $300 billion in model portfolios that plug into this.

On top of those, Claude keeps the integrations it already had: Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar. As a result, an advisor can ask one question and have it answered across the CRM, the custodian and the research vendor at once.

Here is how the launch partners break down.

Partner What it is What the connector brings
Charles Schwab Custodian Account and custody data
BlackRock Asset manager Model portfolio intelligence
Vanguard Asset manager Fund and portfolio data
Addepar Wealth platform Portfolio reporting
iCapital Alternatives platform Private market products
Orion, Envestnet Advisor tech Rebalancing and workflow
Wealthbox, Zocks CRM and notes Client records and meeting capture
Morningstar, FactSet, S&P Global Research Ratings and market research

The Claude Skills for Financial Analysis Advisors Get

Furthermore, Anthropic shipped the workflows prebuilt rather than leaving firms to prompt their way there. The list covers advisor onboarding, alternative investments briefing, compliance and AI policy review, and estate and tax briefing.

In addition, the rest is meeting machinery: pre-meeting preparation, post-meeting notes and follow-up, prospect intake, and portfolio rebalance review. For instance, Josh Brown of Ritholtz Wealth Management put the appeal plainly. “I don’t want my CFPs spending hours laboring over CRM updates,” he said.

Claude for Financial Services Pricing

Notably, this one does not sit on a personal plan. The product runs on enterprise agreements with audit logs, and reported pricing lands somewhere around $70 to $120 per user each month, scaling with usage.

Firms also need Claude Co-Work and Claude for Finance, which Anthropic provides at no extra charge. Meanwhile, licences requested by the end of September 2026 come with a one time usage credit, which reads like a nudge to sign early.

Why Claude Will Not Give Investment Advice

Interestingly, the sharpest line in the launch is a limit, not a feature. Jonathan Pelosi, who heads financial services at Anthropic, drew it himself: “You won’t explicitly get investment advice from Claude. We reserve that judgment for the experts.”

Naturally, that is a legal position as much as a product one. Above all, the advisor still signs off on every recommendation, and the liability stays with the human. In addition, Anthropic says the tool is meant to sit alongside existing advisor software rather than replace it.

What MiFID II Says About AI in Advice

By contrast, in Europe the boundary is written down. Under MiFID II, advice means a personal recommendation, and regulators apply a five part cumulative test to decide whether something qualifies. In particular, presenting an instrument as suitable can count, whether that happens explicitly or by implication.

At the same time, regulators have already addressed the AI question directly. As The Next Web reported, ESMA confirmed in May 2024 that using AI does not change a firm’s duty to act in the client’s best interest. Consequently, a careless deployment is the firm’s problem, not the model’s.

Why Anthropic Is Going After the Advisor Stack

Wealth management is, above all, an unusually good target for this kind of tool. Indeed, the data is structured, the workflows repeat, and the compliance requirements mean firms already pay for software. Peter Nolan of Anthropic described the ambition as orchestration, saying to think of the company as “a symphony conductor.”

Similarly, BlackRock read it the same way. Jaime Magyera called the launch an “important step” in bringing the firm’s portfolio intelligence to more advisors. In short, whether advisors trust a model with client files is the open question, and the next year will answer it.
